A rest day 62.5 miles

Today turned out to be a really great day overall.  When i looked out of the window this morning i was a little worried that we may all get a little wet but the weather held.  It was overcast all day long and about 65 degrees the perfect temp to ride in.  The roads were fairly flat today with limited hills in the morning so we were able to keep up an average speed of about 15 miles per hour which is about 3 miles per hour faster than the previous 5 days.  As the day wore on the hills began to show up but only a few were any trouble for us.  Again Dad showed his determination and power has he muscled up the hills calling out PUSH PUSH PUSH which has become his mantra for this ride.  I know that being prideful is wrong but i am very proud of him for continuing to Push forward when the PD and Limited Lung capabilities want to keep him down.  It made me stop several times today to either smile and admire or pause and wonder if i could be so determined if i were in his place.
I don't know if i would be able to have the attitude and determination that so many people i have met with PD have.  I almost think they need to call it the happy disease because it seems to be that everyone who is battling this has such a tremendous attitude.  They all stick together and find the good in each day.  I hope that we can learn from them and find the good without having to face such difficult obstacles.
I cant say enough about the support we have gotten from everyone so far.  People along the route have been amazing.  Last nights hosts were incredible and Pastor Micheal Koontz is one heck of a good. Homeade clam chowder, fresh fish, and two kinds of pie.  It was a riders delight, mix that with great stories and good hospitality and you can not ask for more.  Today we again were welcomed into a wonderful church here in Toledo, WA  Travis Hilley has welcomed us into his church with open arms.  He joined us for a terrific mexican dinner. who would of thought some of the best mexican food i would eat would be in a small town in the middle of WA.

Today was the kickoff of the Hearts of Honor drive.  For a $30 donation you can buy a heart that will be placed on our bikes for the remainder of the ride and probably longer.  When we hit 20 hearts we will select from one those who donated and send them a POP's Ride Package a Tshirt, golf towel, sticker, and a PD pal keychain.   Your heart can be for anyone affected by anything this is simply a way for us to honor those who are or have stood up against a disease.

Below are some pictures from today.
