Day 12, Deadliest catch southern style

I know this is going to shock everyone but it was windy today oh ya and humid.  But we have added a new piece to the riding puzzle, bumpy roads.  I am not talking little bumps here and there I am talking teeth cracking bumps.  I would like to say I will get used to them but I don't think that it is going to happen.  We Deal with it, just like any other issues that comes up.

I think we finally got Kyles bike fixed tomorrow will be the test.  Thanks to Will M. for the phone advice it helped out a bunch.

Well I have seen my first Crayfish farm.  Basically it is a small pond with a bunch of crab pots (at least that is what they remind me of).  The first one we passed we saw the farmer feeding them.  I was not sure exactly what he was doing until I saw the pots.  After a few miles of riding we finally seen the harvest of the little buggers (see the picture).  After they pull the pots they sort them out but I am not sure what the criteria is for the sorting.  After this they send them to a plant of some sort, we passed a few of these as well, and then into the cooking pot they go.

Meet Roy our newest friend he is soloing across the US as well but doing so on a recumbent bike.  Check out the pic looks really comfortable.  Roy joined us for dinner and shared some of his stories, lot s of good stories but one that sticks in my head was that he met a gentleman who is pushing a wheel barrow around the south.  Yes just walking around with his gear in a wheel barrow.  Anyway good luck to Roy on his travels.

Ok so here is a quick glimpse at our daily schedule.  We all get up at 5:30am and start taking the beds down and getting our gear ready for the day.  We walk out to the RV were Aunt Sharon has prepared our breakfast for us.  So good to have things ready when you get up it really keeps things moving.  We grab the bikes and are on the road by 6:45am or 7am (unless we have to drive to a drop off point).  Then you guessed it we pedal, at mile 15 or so the RV is waiting for us this is to make sure there are no major issues with us or the gear it is also a good place to pick up a little bigger snack if need be, you don't always feel like having breakfast.  Then we head out and ride to about the 55 mile mark where we stop for lunch, usually a cold meat sandwich but it tastes so good.  We lounge around for about an hour cooling off and resting.  then it is off again for the home run, usually about 40 to 50 miles.  Throughout the entire day the SAG (Support And Gear) is leapfrogging us with food and beverages.  They crew running this is so important to us and have been doing a great job.
At the end of the day we shower up, do any bike maintenance or stretching, always have a recover drink, and then we start to right these blogs.  now that we are 12 days into this we have a fairly good system going.  I have a lot of respect for those that do this unsupported we are truly blessed with our set up.  And we are lucky to have people willing to travel with us.

Lesson for the day,  Never ride over anything that looks like a rope it may not be.

I ran over a Gardner snake today and felt it crunch, not pleasant.
